Rev. Maggie Cantey joined the team at Shandon United Methodist Church in July 2024. Maggie graduated from A.C. Flora High School in 2012. She then went to Wofford College, where she majored in Religion and minored in Studio Art. After college, she spent four years in Wilmore, Kentucky. While in Kentucky, she attended Asbury Theological Seminary and worked as a youth director and a farm hand on a goat farm.
In 2020, Maggie and her husband moved back to Spartanburg, where they each served in their first appointments. Maggie was the associate pastor of student ministry at New Beginnings UMC and became the leader of United Youth, a diverse youth group comprised of youth from eight United Methodist Churches in the Spartanburg District.
Maggie and her husband, Mason, have a daughter, Livi Mae, and Laurel, a Boykin Spaniel that Livi Mae calls her sister.
Maggie’s ministry goal is to “help people grow in love and understanding of God and one another.”
